As the coyote moves east, he’s bringing his somewhat dubious reputation with him. I’m Jim Metzner and this is the Pulse of the Planet.Daniel Harrison is an assistant professor in the department of wildlife at the University of Maine.Harrison: Well, coyotes are controversial, it appears, wherever they go. They interact with people because they occasionally prey on domestic livestock. They prey, here in the northeast fairly extensively on White Tail Deer which are a prize game species. So that puts them in conflict with certain segments of the sporting public. [and] At the same time, they occasionally prey on domestic pets: cats or dogs.
