Jim MetznerEach weekday, Pulse of the Planet provides its listeners with a two-minute sound portrait of Planet Earth, tracking the rhythms of nature, culture and science worldwide and blending interviews and extraordinary natural sound.

Pulse of the Planet is broadcast over 320 public and commercial stations around the world and on the Voice of America and the Armed Forces Radio Network, reaching over one million listeners daily. The series is presented by the National Science Foundation.

Biographies

Jim Metzner  Jim Metzner - Executive Producer
Executive Producer Jim Metzner has produced more than 5,000 short-format radio programs since 1979, winning over a dozen broadcasting awards, including the 1995 Grand Award at the International Radio Festival of New York.
    
Lara Ratzlaff   Lara Ratzlaff - Associate Producer
Lara Ratzlaff has recently completed the radio program at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, Maine. Previously, she was an Associate Producer for Homelands Production's 'Worlds of Difference' program, a founding producer and editor of the 'Ithaca Radio Hour,' and an intern for American RadioWorks. Lara has a BA in Anthropology from Grinnell College.
    
Tim Hawkins   Tim Hawkins - Project Manager
Tim Hawkins has over twenty years of experience specializing in preservation and management of collections of audio, video, films, photographs, and digital media. Hawkins is also a fine-art photographer and owner of Freshwater Photos.
     
Shantal Riley   Shantal Riley - Research Assistant
A recent graduate of Marist College, Shantal holds a BA in Communications with a concentration in Journalism.  
     
Brett Barry   Brett Barry - Associate Producer
Brett has produced for various media since graduating from Syracuse University’s Newhouse school in 1998. In addition to his work with Pulse of the Planet, Brett and Rebecca Barry own Silver Hollow Audio, a production company specializing in audiobooks and spoken word recordings. He teaches audio production at SUNY New Paltz. 
     
Nicole de la PArte   Nicole de la Parte - Administrative Assistant
Nicole de la Parte is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz, where she studied philosophy and religions. Nicole is a freelance jack-of-all-trades: an artist, photographer and journalist, as well as a self-taught web designer.
